GOMOS
is Oceanweather's new comprehensive metocean study
for the Gulf of Mexico. It is intended as a follow-on
to the Gulf JIP's (Joint Industry Projects) GUMSHOE
(Hurricane Extremes), WINX (Winter Storm Extremes),
GLOW (Operational Statistics) which have set the standard
for design criteria in the Gulf.
The
hindcast includes a 10-year continuous wind and wave
hindcast for the period 1990-1999 (updates are planned).
All tropical storm/hurricanes in the period 1900-2000
(302 total) and 80 extra-tropical storms (winter events/northerns)
have been run through the wave and current/surge models.
Oceanweather's
3rd generation wave model adapted to a 1/8th degree
grid is used for all wave hindcasting. The 10-year
continuous period includes detailed reanalysis of
all tropical systems as well as kinematic analysis
of significant storm events.
